We did this once before. So many of us. We wrote e-mails, shared on Facebook, we tweeted #whynothome, we Instagrammed, we did things that made us uncomfortable. We asked in a big way and we received.
It was truly a colossal family and community effort. It has taken me months to come around to the idea that this is really what needs to happen. Another Kickstarter campaign. It's a little like deciding to have that second baby after a particularly challenging first, but here we are.
A goal, a deadline, and a growing community of supporters committed to the idea that maternity can be better than it is. That birth in our culture has been medicalized and institutionalized for too long. That women and families deserve choices. Informed choices about where and how they give birth. That those choices should be respected and supported.
If you’ve been around here for a while and have watched this project take shape, thank you for hanging on with us. I know it’s been a long ride, but we’re really close now. If you’re new to the “Why Not Home?” community, welcome! We’re glad you’re here.
